CP course in Morocco: Club Pilot training
After EP, most pilots need two things: better judgement and more repetition. So, our CP course in Morocco gives you a focused 5–7 day training block to consolidate your fundamentals and step into the Club Pilot (CP) stage.

What CP (Club Pilot) means
When you complete the CP course, you work towards the BHPA Club Pilot (Novice) rating. That means you can leave school and fly without an instructor. However, CP still limits you to hill / ridge soaring rather than cross-country flying. So, CP is the stage where you become self-sufficient, consistent, and safe.
Why Morocco works well for CP training
Many pilots struggle to get consistent training time in the UK. However, South Morocco can offer more regular flying opportunities in the same months. As a result, you often get more chances to practise launches, approaches, landings, and ridge soaring routines.
We have run Morocco trips for many years and operate the programme twice per year. On our longer 14-day Morocco training programme, we have historically flown on at least 10 days out of 14. That continuity helps pilots progress faster because they can repeat key tasks day after day.

What you will learn on the CP course in Morocco
The CP course expands what you learned on EP. First, we sharpen your decision-making. Then, we build consistency in launches and landings. Finally, we develop ridge soaring skills so you can manage height safely and fly with others.
CP course in Morocco: site, weather, and planning
-
- Site assessment: hazards, turbulence and rotor
- Weather assessment: wind strength, gradients and venturi effect
- Flight planning: building options and escape plans
- Rules of the Air, ridge protocols, lift bands, soaring patterns and lookout
CP course in Morocco flight skills targets
-
-
- Unassisted launches and controlled turns to and beyond 180°
- Planned approaches and accurate landings: within 10m / 30ft of a target at least 4 times
- Using ridge lift to maintain or gain height, including controlled beats with good lookout
- A minimum of 5 ridge-soaring flights of around 10 minutes (or equivalent), including variety across days or sites
- Intro to top landings: planning, accurate approaches, and canopy control after touchdown
-
Control, speed range, and safe techniques
-
-
- Flying with others: awareness, separation, and predictable flight paths
- Understanding slow/fast flight hazards, stall symptoms, and speed-to-fly basics
- Using accelerator systems confidently and correctly
- Forward and reverse launch techniques with good control throughout
- Weight shift and pitch/roll co-ordination in turns
- Crosswind and slope landings: when to use them and how to manage hazards
-
Safety, emergencies, and active flying
-
-
- PLFs, water and tree landing procedures, and emergency parachute awareness
- Alternative control techniques (rear riser steering / weight shift) for specific failures
- Recovery techniques: collapses, stalls, spins, spirals (appropriate to CP stage)
- Active flying concepts and coping with turbulence
- Big ears rapid descent: safe entry/exit, steering with weight shift, and correct technique
- Recovering from an asymmetric tuck (15%–35%)
-

Safety-first instruction and equipment
Paragliding is aviation. So, we treat safety seriously. First, we choose suitable sites and conditions. Then, we run clear briefings and structured tasks. If conditions do not suit the training objective, we change the plan.
We operate as a BHPA-registered school and follow recognised training standards. To learn more, visit:
Equipment replacement cycle
Safety is paramount. So, we maintain certified training equipment carefully. In addition, we replace training equipment on a regular cycle—typically every two years—so you train on modern, well-maintained kit.

Next steps after CP
After CP, most pilots benefit from structured consolidation. So, you can either build airtime on a guided trip or take a focused skills day at home:
