SIV Courses
What is SIV?
SIV stands for “Simulation d’Incident en Vol”, a French term meaning
“Simulation of Incidents in Flight”. It is an advanced paragliding safety course designed
to prepare pilots for handling unexpected in-flight incidents such as collapses, spins, stalls, and
rapid descent scenarios. Through controlled simulations, pilots build confidence, enhance awareness,
and master recovery techniques to improve overall safety and proficiency.
At Mid Wales Paragliding, we offer a meticulously designed 6-day SIV course tailored
to pilots of all experience levels. Whether you’re undertaking your first SIV training or refining advanced
maneuvers, this program will help you better understand your glider, improve your in-flight control, and
elevate your piloting skills.
What You Will Learn
- Handling Glider Behavior: Recovery techniques for symmetric/asymmetric deflations, stalls, spins, and rapid descents.
- Glider Control: Mastering pitch, roll, and yaw adjustments to achieve advanced fluid piloting.
- Safety Features: Understanding how gliders are designed to collapse safely in extreme situations.
- Situational Calm: Learning to stay composed under pressure and respond correctly at the right time.
Through practical instruction and simulated maneuvers, you will develop a deeper connection with your glider,
gaining the skills and confidence to fly safer and more proficiently.
