Olu Deniz Turkey 6 days

Pilot level required: CP

What is SIV?

“SIV” stands for “Simulation d’Incident en Vol,” which is a French term that translates to “Simulation of Incidents in Flight” in English. SIV is a type of advanced safety training that involves intentionally inducing and practicing recovery from various in-flight incidents or maneuvers that paraglider pilots may encounter.

This training is designed to enhance a pilot’s awareness, skills and confidence in handling unexpected situations, such as collapses, spins, stalls, and other potentially challenging scenarios. By simulating these incidents in a controlled environment, pilots can learn how to react appropriately and safely recover their paraglider. SIV training is an important component of advanced paragliding education and contributes to overall pilot safety and proficiency. Some of the BHPA advanced pilot tasks can be signed off after this course.

Mastering Glider Control

Our gliders are meticulously designed to prioritize your safety. In certain situations, they are made to collapse, minimizing potential risks. For instance, if the glider pitches excessively forward with a substantial amount of energy and fails to collapse, there is a risk of entanglement as the sail passes beneath you. However, gliders are equipped with innovative safety features that detect a critical angle of attack in front of you, prompting the wing to collapse, averting any perilous scenarios. Embark on this course to familiarize yourself with these new skills and understand the importance of maintaining composure and making accurate calm decisions when faced with unexpected circumstances.

Throughout this course, we will dive into the intricacies of handling adverse situations, focusing on recovery techniques used for symmetric and asymmetric deflations. Stall and spin points. B line stalls and full stalls and rapid decent methods. Moreover, we will practice with the pitch, roll and yaw, through pitch adjustments, and wingovers, thus allowing you to build a more fluid and profound level of piloting. By honing these skills, you can elevate your skill level and ascend to a more advanced level of piloting.

Furthermore, this course will induce a heightened sense of connection between you, and your glider working together as one unit. We believe in your safety and this course will equip you with the tools needed to be becoming a safer and better pilot.

Understanding, practicing and getting good using the roll yaw and pitch will help you progress to a more advanced level in glider control. It should also give you a better feeling of the glider and the air you’re flying in making you a better and safer pilot.

Gliders are designed to collapse in certain situations to make them safe for you to fly. For example, if the glider pitches to far forward with a lot of energy and does not collapse then there would be a chance you could fall into the sail as it passes beneath you. As the glider gets to a certain angle of attack Infront of you it collapses to stop the above scenario from happening. This is one of the safety features built onto your wing s you will learn more about on this course. It will also give you a good understanding of what to do by keeping calm and doing the right thing at the right time. It’s really important you try keep calm during any situation, so you do not overreact and do the wrong thing.
