SIV stands for Simulation d’Incident en Vol (“Simulation of Incidents in Flight”). In other words, it is structured, supervised training where you practise realistic in-flight incidents in a controlled environment. SIV course Oludeniz Turkey: What you will learn
You will build practical skills in:
- Recognising and managing incidents (collapses/deflations, stalls, spins, rapid descents)
- Wing control (pitch, roll, and yaw control for cleaner, more accurate piloting)
- Understanding glider behaviour (what modern wings do, and what pilot inputs help or hinder recovery)
- Staying calm under pressure, so you apply the right input at the right time
In addition, you will learn how to build better habits before an incident starts. That way, you often prevent small issues from becoming bigger ones.
SIV course Oludeniz Turkey flight programme: 6 flights, coached and progressive
This is a 6-day course with 6 flights in total:
- 5 progressive SIV training flights following the course plan
- 1 “à la carte” flight where you choose the focus
The “à la carte” flight lets you tailor the training to what matters most to you. For example, some pilots use it to consolidate core SIV skills. However, others may choose to try basic acrobatic manoeuvres (such as a SAT, or a stall out of a spin) where appropriate. Either way, the content is always based on your level, your wing, and the conditions, and it will be agreed with the instructor on the day.
We also build in up to two spare days to protect the programme if the weather is poor. Therefore, we can usually complete the training safely without rushing. If we finish early, then there is often time for relaxed free flying and, if conditions allow, a short XC flight to Butterfly Valley.

SIV course Oludeniz Turkey itinerary (subject to weather)
Saturday – Arrival
- First, arrive, check in, and settle into accommodation.
Day 1 (Sunday) – Setup and familiarisation
- Next, you will receive an area briefing (launch/landing, airspace, and training zones).
- Then, we complete equipment checks, including reserve parachute inspection.
- Finally, you will do a familiarisation flight.
Days 2–5 (Monday–Thursday) – Coached SIV training
- Each day starts with a briefing, so you know exactly what you are working on.
- After that, you complete coached training flights as conditions allow.
- Then, you review HD video after each flight, and you leave with a clear plan for the next step.
Day 6 (Friday) – Flex day
- Importantly, this day is used as a weather buffer and/or to complete your training aims.
- Alternatively, if the course finishes early, then enjoy optional free flying and (if conditions allow) a short XC to Butterfly Valley.
Saturday – Departure
- Finally, it is departure day.

Oludeniz Turkey SIV course accommodation and travel
Base hotel: Turk Hotel (short walk from the landing area).
Airport: Dalaman (DLM). Transfer options include private taxi (approx. 45 minutes) or shuttle.
SIV course Oludeniz Turkey requirements
To participate you will need:
- A suitable glider
- A recently repacked reserve parachute
- A 2-metre radio
- BHPA Club Pilot (CP) licence or equivalent
- Valid paragliding insurance
Mandatory registration to fly in Oludeniz (Babadağ)
All pilots must register using the official Babadağ flight system and upload ID and licence documents before flying. Therefore, please complete this before arrival to avoid delays.

SIV is weather-dependent. For that reason, we cannot offer refunds for missed flights due to unsuitable conditions. However, the course dates are chosen to target the most reliable periods of the season. In addition, the spare days help protect the programme and maximise your flying time.
