Our flight strategy is finely tuned to harness the best conditions Colombia has to offer. We kickstart our days high in the mountains, riding thermals and favorable winds. As the sun climbs and lee winds develop, we then transition to the flatlands, where we utilise convergence lines can us to explore in either northern or southern directions, depending on prevailing winds.
This course will help with development of your flying skills along side decision making and overall experience, we provide a personalized debrief sessions partway through the course. Our XC trips cater to pilots of all levels, and its essential to approach each flight with realistic expectations. While our launch sites boast smooth takeoff zones with a gentle breeze, pilots must embrace self-reliance and decision-making autonomy. In the rare event of a “bomb out,” arrangements can be made for a lift back to the launch site, though please note that Roldanillo typically allows for only one flight per day due to midday wind patterns.
As you navigate Colombia’s dynamic airspace, remember to prioritize safety and situational awareness. While the country offers ample opportunities for low saves, always ensure you have accessible landing options and anticipate changing wind directions, especially near thermals.
